OUR MISSION
Bostonians for Youth, an initiative of Trinity Boston Foundation, is a call-to-action to change the odds for Boston youth and help young people reach their full potential.
What are the odds?
- 49% of Boston high school students know someone who has been killed (2010).
- 68% feel it is fairly easy or easy for kids in their neighborhood to get a gun (2008).
- 69% have witnessed violent acts; 24% have witnessed a shooting (2008).
- 26 young people under the age of 24 died in acts of violence in 2011.
Our Vision
Our vision is a city with safe streets and excellent schools; a community strengthened by personal relationships that crisscross our neighborhoods, connecting Back Bay to Mattapan, Roxbury to Beacon Hill; a city where all children have the opportunity to achieve their full potential; and a city where no one's life is cut short by an act of violence.
Our Goals
1) To raise funds to support organizations working to prevent violence
2) To increase collaboration and coordination in the non-profit sector
3) To build public and awareness and commitment to eliminating youth violence in Boston
Please join us, so that together we can change the odds!
