2009 EVENT

On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, more than 450 people gathered to concentrate the community’s energy around violence prevention and building brighter futures for youth.

With a theme of “Together, Let’s Change the Odds” the 2009 Bostonians for Youth event raised more than $200,000 in support of the partner organizations' work on the front lines. 

Mayor and Mrs. Menino were honorary chairs for the event alongside parents who have lost children to gun violence – Ron and Kim Odom, and Theresa Francis.

“Inspiring Boston” awards were given to Governor Deval Patrick and to Priscilla Dewey Houghton and Amory Houghton for their long-term commitment to urban youth. Citizens Bank also received a “Community Excellence” award.

Proceeds equally benefited the event partners: Boston Ten Point Coalition, Urban Improv, and the Trinity Boston Foundation.
